Effective immediately, HSE Phase-Contrast Test Slides are individually calibrated and certified by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Test results, together with a digitized video image of the slide, will be archived by HSE, providing full traceability for each slide sold. Previously, certification by HSE was limited to visual comparison with a reference master.

Recertification Service

HSE recommends that Phase Contrast Test Slides be retested after five years to ensure they have not suffered any degradation. The certificate supplied with all slides manufactured after July 1997 clearly indicates the validity period. If you own a slide manufactured earlier than July 1997, it may be returned for retesting. If they pass retesting, they will be uniquely marked, results and video image will be archived by HSE and a new certificate, providing full traceability, will be issued.
