Ayer, Massachusetts, - 20 January 2004 —Optometrics LLC is pleased to announce new and expanded capabilities for its popular WinSPF Software (V3.0).  With the release of WinSPF Version 3, Optometrics has continued to support the needs of the SPF measurement community by meeting or exceeding the expanded requirements of the Boots Star Rating system.

The updated capabilities include:

• The ability to use wavelength intervals of 1, 2, or 5 nm;
• Support for up to 12 reference scans to eliminate variations in reference measurements;
• A Taylor approximation for calculating MPF standard deviations with multiple reference scans;
• The ability to convert older 5 nm solar spectral data to 1 nm spectra using cubic spline interpolation;
• Trapezoidal or Simpson’s Rule approximations for integral calculations;
• An optional Solar Simulator Spectra (WG320) file for calculating SPF;
• Ability to add and print your own company name on printed reports and graphs;
• Ability to create user-defined directories for better data storage and organization.

In addition to these features, the system will factor out the dark current from measurements giving higher quality results particularly for higher SPF values.
